The 2018-19 high school basketball season doesn’t kick off until the winter, but some of the best talent in the state can be found in Jersey City this summer, honing their skills on a brand-new Sport Court basketball court.
The Hamilton Park Summer League kicked off its 16th season in June, with over 500 participants from all over New Jersey. Thanks to the Jersey City Department of Recreation and the Hamilton Park Neighborhood Association, the league received a much-needed basketball court upgrade courtesy of SportProsUSA.
“The court was definitely in need of some love,” one Jersey City resident commented. “I’m glad to see Hamilton Park continuing to be upgraded so both families and the league can enjoy. It’s a beautiful court and the league brings in a lot of talent each year.”
The Sport Court basketball court is a state-of-the-art custom engineered modular surface that provides the best traction, ball bounce and shock absorption in the industry. The surface has better traction than concrete, delivers the same dribbling response as a hardwood floor, and provides the best protection against abrasion of any outdoor court surface.
The new court officially made its debut on Monday, July 2nd with teams from St. Peter’s Prep and Snyder squaring off in the 5th week of league play. Snyder Junior shooting guard Corey Manning-Flord saw a noticeable difference in the new Sport Court. “This is a good court. It’s definitely a lot better than what was here before,” he commented after the game.
SportProsUSA, the official Sport Court Distributor of New Jersey and New York City, installed the new court in just one day with the help of the Hamilton Park Neighborhood Association so that league play would not be interrupted.
With over 22 boys’ high school teams represented and 30 games each week, the new court will play a vital role in the Hamilton Park Summer League for many years to come.
