This Thursday, May 5th, kicks off the annual Regional Dance America/Pacific Festival. Regional Dance America is a national association of dance companies that join throughout the year for larger festivals and events. Held this year in Phoenix, AZ, the RDA Pacific Festival features 3,000 Pre-Professional Dancers and 90 Pre-Professional Companies. The festival is essentially a performing event hosted by a region in which dancers participate in master classes, auditions for scholarships and three evenings of performances while the directors of each company are given opportunities to connect, network and gain perspective. This yearly festival is a big deal for dancers and recruiters alike, as this is the time in which contracts and scholarships are awarded, as well as early admissions and letters of encouragement to apply to various dance schools and companies around the nation.
